Winter activities

When I think of winter, I see myself curling up on the sofa by a roaring fire with my knitting or a book and a strong cup of tea. A bit of relaxation in the winter is good but as someone who works from home at a desk all week, I am usually craving to get out the house and do something different. So, today I thought I’d share some fun and alternative activities to do this winter.

Learn something new

In the summer you don’t want to be stuck indoors on a course, when it’s warm outside. Winter is in fact the perfect month to enrol on a course and learn something new such as calligraphy, pottery or bread making.

Pine forest and crunchy leaf walks

I love going on walks through pine forests and woods full of crunchy leaves. The smell of pine is so refreshing and relaxing. There are lots of gorgeous pine forests and woods around, so why not go on a walk, pick up some pine cones, feel the crunch of leaves under your feet and do a spot of bird watching while you’re at.

Be a tourist for the day

There are so many wonderful places you can visit, so pick up a map and choose a city to go and be a tourist in for the day. If the weather’s bad, choose interesting museums, inspiring galleries and tasty cafes to visit instead.

Theatre night

There are always lots of incredible shows on throughout winter, such as plays, musicals, ballets, opera, comedy, concerts and of course, pantomimes. Have a look at what’s on in your nearest city and get booking. You could even make a weekend of it by staying at a cosy B&B.

I hope this inspires you to not be confined to the sofa and instead do something new this winter season. Do come and share with all of us at the Simple Stylish Makes team what you are getting up to this winter by using the hashtag #simplestylishmakers.
