Every season, the team at Pantone Colour Institute evaluate the colours shown at New York Fashion Week and create the Pantone Fashion Colour Report which is used to highlight the top 10 colours for women’s fashion for the upcoming season. This Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 will be the first year that Pantone have included a London Fashion Week colour set to their Fashion Colour Report and we are so excited to see the difference between the two countries’ colour options.
Colour Palette for New York:
- Grenadine
- Tawny port
- Ballet slipper
- Butterum
- Navy Peony
- Neutral Gray
- Shaded Spruce
- Golden Lime
- Marina
- Autumn Maple
The Colour Report for 2017/2018 has some very traditionally autumnal colours in it, especially the likes of Autumn Maple and Navy Peony. The addition of these more traditional colours makes for a warmth to the colour report that is comforting and welcoming. These colours make for some exciting colour combinations. Pantone suggests pairing the more standout shades, including Ballet Slipper, Golden Lime and Marina Blue with the more traditional Navy Peony, Neutral Gray, Butterum and Tawny Port for some interesting combinations.
Colour Palette for London:
- Flame Scarlet
- Primrose pink
- Toast
- Blue bell
- Royal Lilac
- Otter
- Navy Peony
- Copper tan
- Lemon curry
- Golden olive
Although there are some similarities between the colour palettes for New York and for London, there are some striking differences and London seems altogether a lot more colourful. There are some unusual colours in the colour palette for autumn and winter, including Golden olive and Bluebell. Stranger still are the suggested pairings for this colour palette, Pantone suggests you pair Royal Lilac with Otter or Lemon Curry with Bluebell to create unusual colour dichotomies.
