To work the knit stitch, insert your right needle into the first stitch from front to back. Holding both needles in your left hand, wrap the working yarn anti clockwise and pull the loop through to the front. Use your right index finger to ease it off the left needle, this completes one stitch. Repeat this process until the end of the row. When you’ve finished the last stitch, swap the needles in your hands and work back along the left needle to form the second row. Knitting every stitch like this creates a stitch pattern called ‘garter stitch’.
