Instagram Challenges

Have you heard of Instagram challenges? They’re challenges to help you post on your Instagram feed every day. Most of the challenges come with some sort of theme or even a daily word prompt to help you think about what to photograph and share. They can take place over a week or even up to 100 days and I’ve even seen some going all year round! There are also some wonderful accounts that provide one hashtag but the theme to that hashtag changes throughout the year.

There are so many positives to joining in on a challenge. For starters, the prompt or theme helps you decide what to photograph, which is great if you’re not sure what to post. Secondly, challenges help you discover and connect with new accounts; this is especially great if you’re looking to chat with people who have the same interest as you, such as sewing or drawing.

To find an Instagram challenge to take part in, simply search the hashtag feed on Instagram. You could look for these:

Here are some great challenges to join in with this year:

#Inktober – a month long challenge to inspire you to draw every day, starts 1st October

#ColourMyEveryDay – a week long challenge run by me (@adventuresandteaparties) celebrating the colours of autumn, starts 21st October. Prompts to be announced at the start of October.

#therealphotochallenge – monthly photo challenges, with different prompts for every month of the year.

#wipsandblooms – run by @ceramicmagpie this is a regular monthly challenge, with a different theme each month.

#MarchMeetTheMaker – both a week and month long challenge run by Joanne Hawker for makers, date to be confirmed.

#the100dayproject – this art themed challenge is run every year by @elleluna and @lindsayjeanthomson, starting the middle of April. This is a great one to get involved with in 2018.

To join in with a challenge, all you need to do is post a picture, video, boomerang or a hyperlapse clip that relates to the daily prompt or theme and add the hashtag feed to your post. Some challenges are eligible for prizes, so check the account that is running the challenge to find out how you can enter the competition.

I hope this has inspired you to give Instagram challenges a go!
