How To Combat Those Winter Blues

Winter blues

I always associate the winter months with curling up indoors with a knitted blanket, a good book and a cup of Earl Grey tea. It’s definitely a cosy time of year but don’t forget there are lots of other lovely things you can do away from home and to help combat the winter blues!

Go ice-skating / there are always loads of ice skating rinks open at this time of year, so if you haven’t already tried it, I urge you to give it a go! Not only is it fun but it’s good to get out of the house on those dark, winter nights.

Dance the ceilidh / this traditional Scottish dance, pronounced “kaylee”, is so much fun and is a sure-fire way to warm you up on a cold night! There are plenty of them around right now, so find out where one is locally to you or make a weekend of it away in a new city!

Food and craft markets / there are loads of wonderful markets on at this time of year, full to the brim of delicious food and beautiful home made gifts. It’s a great time to satisfy those taste buds and do a spot of Christmas shopping too!

Pamper yourself / go for a blissful, warming spa day or have a facial. It will make you feel wonderful! Alternatively, run yourself a hot bath, with lavender bubble bath and soak in it for hours, with a good book.

Beach walk / I know, crazy huh? But let me assure you, heading to a beach on a bright, winter day is heaven. You tend to have the beach to yourself and can take some incredible photos, especially if you stay to watch the sunset. Take a flask of hot chocolate with you to enjoy in the car afterwards, while watching the waves crash along the beach.
