Handmade Christmas – table decorations

Xmas - table decorations (2)

This year I’ll be spending Christmas in a lock keeper’s cottage with my family, complete with an aga cooker. I’m rather excited about this and have already planned vintage style table decorations. I’m making floral napkins to go with the chintzy, second-hand plates, putting candles in dainty tea cups and covering Christmas crackers with vintage style wallpaper and ribbon.

There are loads of different themes you could go for too from rustic to fun and playful for the kids to full on glitter and sparkle to a set colour scheme!

Here are some fun DIY ideas you could try to accessorise your Christmas table with:

Mini Christmas trees / cut off a branch from the Christmas tree, measuring no longer than 10cm and stick into a spare cork from a bottle. Make one for each place setting and you’ve got a very easy to make but cute accessory.

Light jar / pop some fairy lights in a kilner jar for a mesmerising glow! This one will definitely impress!

Knitted cutlery holder / knit a cute red stocking or little Santa hat for everyone’s cutlery.

Glittery centre piece / cover the outside of an empty wine bottle in glue and roll in glitter. Pop some Holly in the top and you’ve got a great centre piece for the table!

Bow tie glasses / tie some red polka dot ribbon into a bow around each wine glass for a simple but effective look.

Rosemary wreaths / tie each end of a rosemary branch together with a bit of twine to create the most gorgeous, mini wreath. Pop one on each place setting. This will cause much oohing and ahhing and of course it will smell delicious!

I hope you like these ideas! How will you be decorating your table this Christmas?
