Handmade Christmas – planning and preparation

Xmas planning (2)

I can’t believe Christmas is less than 1 month away! I’ve got so much to prepare from homemade gifts and gift wrapping to tree and table decorations and on top of that, I need to knit up a baby hat and booties for the arrival of my cousin’s baby. Phew, quite a to-do list!

If you’re planning a handmade themed Christmas, I’m guessing you have a similar to-do list, right? Well, here are some of my top tips for taking the stress out of Christmas and to ensure you enjoy the festive day!

List making / start writing your to-do list now. Keep it realistic and sensible. Write down all the gifts and accessories you want to make.

Timetable / look at your calendar and note down how many free evenings and weekends you have to do everything on your list. Now go back and review your list.

Supplies / do you need any materials or equipment to make all those presents? Check your stash of craft supplies and get ordering now, so that they arrive with plenty of time to start making all those goodies.

Team work / you don’t have to do everything on your own. Get your family to join in with making paper chains and gift labels. There are so many fun projects that kids can do too, so pop some Christmas tunes on and make a day of it!

I hope this helps! Stay tuned for more handmade Christmas themed posts and do share your gorgeous makes with us over on Twitter!
